Sunday, February 10. Leviticus 1 – 4

Chapters 1-4 of Leviticus concern different types of offerings. The Burnt Offering was where the sacrifice was entirely consumed by fire, an offering made to please the Lord, secure His favor as well as forgiveness for sin. The Fellowship Offering (or Peace Offering) of chapter three was a sacrifice of well-being, not for forgiveness, but a sacrifice requesting God to provide healing in cases of illness or calm in times of trouble or reconciliation in times of division, but most of all, it was an offering that entreated God for a good relationship between Him and the offerer.

Christ, the “Prince of Peace” not our offering, but an offering made by God Himself so that the separation between us and God could be bridged, alienation removed, and unity could be restored.
